Introduction
The Private Hospitals Council (PHC) is working as a department of Uganda National Association of Private Hospitals (UNAPH). It is established to ensure appropriate representation of the private hospital sector at all levels so that they can play a significant role in developing policy framework to improve private health facilities and systems in Uganda. 
Private Hospitals Council is a forum of dedicated independent private hospitals industry leaders, stakeholders and professionals working out of their offices who will be assisted by contributions from expert advisory groups and associations in line specialist areas. We are continuously tasked by our members to represent, protect and promote the sector in everything we do. The council will identify issues and facilitate capability development efforts to uplift standards in Uganda’s private hospital industry.

Private Hospitals Council will represent the interests of the private hospitals sector on a national basis such as in relation to Government regulation, ethics and representation on national policy making bodies. The council will be represented on areas like large hospitals, small and medium health clinics, regional representatives, medical doctors, nurses and midwives, medical and lab equipment, legal &health law, private health insurance, private health economics and planning, HIV/AIDS & SRH, Maternal & Childhealth, Quality and Safety, Health Information Management, resource mobilization, R&D, business development, patients, consultants, medical drugs supply, government affairs & regulation, taxes, hospital waste & environment, community health, member development and services, private health workers, integrated medicine, chambers of commerce and any other relevant bodies and authority.
Objectives
  • To support regulation of private hospitals and private health clinics in accordance with the laid down criteria.
  • To build capacity of private hospitals and private health clinics.
  • To review performance of private health sector on regular basis.
  • To ensure effective appropriate and adequate representations of all fields and areas at all levels in the private health sector.
  • To strengthen the dispute resolution mechanism in order to resolve disputes within the private health subsector.
  • To liaison with authorities, commissions, departments, directorates, and other partners to make the private health sector vibrant and transparent.
  • To build capacity of the Uganda National Association of Private Hospitals (UNAPH) to effectively perform its duties.
  • To secure appropriate level of government support for private patients in independent private health subsector
