UNAPH's National Public Health Week: Theme isPromoting Public Health in the Private Health Sector”

National Public Health Week

Uganda National Association of Private Hospitals (UNAPH) will soon launch a National Public Health Week, raising awareness about public health and prevention and spreading the message that good health is a community affair.
With a theme of "Promoting Public Health in the Private Health Sector" highlights the role of private hospitals and clinics in making the nation a healthier place. This follows the observance that private hospitals and clinics have not been very active in public health programs in Uganda. According to the  National Public Health Week brochure, which is available on our website: www.unaph.com "even small actions at the community level can make a difference," such as developing a workplace cleaner.
Organizers will be urged to hold events highlighting the official theme, distribute materials to community members and reach out to local media. Public health professionals will also be encouraged to make advocacy a key component of their celebrations. During the week, organizers will visit UNAPH's advocacy Website, to send views, opinions and reports on public health issues.
As we continue to advocate for “Health for All”, it's more important to remind Ugandans of their individual roles in accomplishing that goal.
Social media tools and FM Radios will play a significant role during this public health week. The Association will release follow-up guidelines for the National Public Health Week detailing how people can make a difference in their communities.
National Public Health Week organizers countrywide will also be encouraged to visit www.unaph.com to submit their respective events into a nationwide program and share their personal public health stories.
If everyone in Uganda commits to promoting good health in our communities, we can create a bigger effect countrywide. Municipalities and private clinics will launch their own programs, e.g a health center may offer a vaccination program, etc
One of the ways to create healthier communities is to involve all stakeholders.

We therefore welcome your support, partnership and collaboration with your organization to make this program a reality.
